Welcome.
National Pan-Hellenic Council of Greater Hartford
"Strength in Unity, Building our Community"
For years, representatives of each Divine 9 organization in Hartford, CT, collaborated to host an engaging Greek event for the betterment of the community and members of their respective organizations.
In its early stages, these organizations joined forces to plan a Greek Cookout. Realizing the success of the cookout and the impact all nine organizations had on the community, the event grew to become a week of dynamic events.
As Greek Week grew, the need to solidify an organized council grew. We needed to turn nine organizations into one voice.
In 2020, preparations began to establish the council. Amidst the pandemic, leaders from each organization came together to set up meetings, discussions and action steps with the NPHC headquarters. The mission was finally accomplished when the National Pan-Hellenic Council of Greater Hartford was officially chartered on July 22, 2021.

The Divine Pause
One of my favorite places to go to reflect is the summit of East Rock. There, I've cried, prayed, daydreamed, let go of unhealthy thoughts and got my mind right. There's something about high views for me that puts things into perspective and clears the head, creating special moments of self-care. There's also something powerful about spaces and activities that get me away from the grind of life and needs of others. Self-care is a divine practice, one that many of us suck at, frankly speaking. Sometimes, we feel guilty for taking breaks and tending to ourselves. Peep this...there are at least 8 unique biblical references to Jesus pausing from ministry and miracles by going to places void of people. We often complicate the process. Keep it simple - sit by a river, read a book, light a candle or dance. Jesus didn't wait until his PTO got approved to book a trip to DR. He went into the wilderness --nothing fancy, just private. He self-cared unapologetically, and still changed the world. In honor of BIPOC Mental Health Month, free yourself from the 'pushthrough...rest when I die...I'll be OK" mind cage, and pause to care for yourself.
